The departmental mission is to provide high quality, contemporary business education in the areas of Management and Marketing.

The Department of Management & Marketing is housed in the College of Business and Leadership in McCartney Hall 208.

The first thing that you should do is apply for admission to FHSU. Upon acceptance you should contact the Department of Management and Marketing (785.628.4201) to be assigned to an advisor. That advisor will help you enroll in courses.

You should access Blackboard on the first day of semester and read your course syllabus. Classroom Support.
Is the degree completely on-line? (back to academic questions)
Yes, you can complete your entire degree on-line.
Will my credits from other institutions transfer to FHSU? (back to academic questions)
These decisions are made on a case by case basis. When you apply for admission, you will send your transcripts from the other institutions you’ve attended to FHSU. You may contact the Registrar’s office (785.628.4222) to inquire about a specific course.
How long does it take to complete the degree? (back to academic questions)
For most students, it takes at least four years to complete their bachelor’s degree. You can take as little or as much time as you need to complete your degree.
How are the courses delivered? (back to academic questions)
The course delivery differs for each course; however, Blackboard 7.0 is the course management systems you will use for most courses. Additional material will be provided via the Internet, books, CD-Rom, and other materials.
What is the difference between the on-campus and on-line courses? (back to academic questions) Of course, the major difference between the two is the delivery mode. Interaction between students and the instructors takes place electronically rather that face-to-face. The course material and content are the same.

Although the method of communication may differ in each course, you will primarily use e-mail, telephone, on-line discussions, and chat rooms to interact with students and faculty members.
What are advantages to on-line courses? (back to academic questions) One of the main advantages of on-line courses is convenience. You can access the course materials at times and places most convenient to you.

The BBA degree has a strong professional school orientation and provides students with background in several business functional areas. A student must complete the following curriculum: (1) 55 hours of general education (advisors will help select those courses appropriate for each major); (2) 27 hours of business core courses; (3) 33 hours of major course work; and (4) 9 hours of free electives. What computer skills will I need to take these courses? (back to academic questions)
You will need basic skills such as keyboarding and accessing the Internet. In addition, you will need to learn how to use the Blackboard Learning System. If don't understand this and want to learn, please see the tutorial section.
How many credit hours can I take at one time? (back to academic questions) To be considered a full-time undergraduate student, you have to be enrolled in 12 credit hours during the semester. Like any college course load, you must consider the amount of time you can devote to your class or classes based on your obligations such as family, career, etc.

Courses typically have 20-30 students enrolled each semester.

For a general syllabus you may visit www.fhsu.edu/syllabus. For your semester syllabus with due dates and up to date information, you will access it on Blackboard the first day of the semester.
What is a free elective? (back to academic questions)
Every student needs at least 124 credit hours to graduate. A free elective is a class that you can take to help you reach that number, but is not required by your major area of study. Many people use these free electives to double major, take a minor, or learn about different areas of study that interest them.
