What Students Have to Say
|
__________________________________________ "I was completely prepared for the "real world" after graduating from the INT Media Studies Department. I did not feel overwhelmed after being hired for my first news position. FHSU and the INT Department taught me everything I needed to know to begin my broadcasting career."
-Jenna (Stout) Miller
Producer/Director
Smoky Hills Public Television
INT Media Studies 2004 Graduate
""FHSU and the INT department gave me an education that didn't waste my time or money. I was able to get involved in the broadcasting program as a freshman, instead of my junior year like most other universities. The hands-on experience gave me an opportunity to learn early on whether broadcasting was what I wanted for my career after college. I can safely say I can't imagine doing anything else. I'm proud to be a FHSU Alumni." ."
-Mitch Weber
INT Media Studies Graduate

"The direction of the FHSU INT program is right on the mark. Media instructors in the INT Department have worked in broadcasting and know the business. The real world experience that they've brought to the classrooms has increased my personal knowledge of the radio business."
-Mike Koerner
INT Media Studies Graduate
Kansas DJ Personality of the Year
Medium Market 1998 and 1999
“I was offered the experience of learning ‘hands-on’ immediately in my freshman year. Professionals look at FHSU first before other larger universities. The News Director here at KWCH turned to FHSU first, for potential employees before looking at bigger schools like KSU or KU, because of the quality and prestige of the Media Studies program at FHSU.”
-Michael Schwanke
News Anchor/Reporter
KWCH TV, Wichita, KS

"The INT Media Studies Department gave me experience with the most advanced equipment. Some of the computer programs we used to create graphics for KFHS are currently being used in the graphics department at KSNW TV."

"Although my internship was short lived I feel that it was a great opportunity. The staff at Capital News 9 were eager to give me advice and take suggestions from me. They complimented highly on the INT program at Fort Hays State University and how right after college, its students will be prepared for the real world. I am truely thankful for all the help, advice, and mentoring I have received from students and faculty in my extended five year program with the department."
- Casey McAvoy INT Media Studies Student
I am currently working for T-Mobile as a Tier II Tech Rep. I was recenlty asked to fly to Chicago for two weeks. The task involves providing floor support to new techs that will be taking calls at a new call center. I want to thank you, as well as all of the FHSU staff, for providing me with the skills and knowledge that I need to succeed in my field of study.

The FHSU INT degree program is extremely effective in providing the skills needed to compete in the Internet economy. I am impressed with the amount of one-on-one and small-group time that the INT faculty spend with students.

"The INT program at FHSU equipped me with the tools and knowledge required to build a strong foundation in the technology field. This groundwork enabled me to secure a position as Network Administrator Assistant with a local bank. Anything we do in life carries with it a cost of some kind. Therefore, I always try to figure rather or not a potential return justifies my investment. I can say will confidence that the INT program was a smart/profitable investment for me!"
-Casey Lee

First National Bank - Hays, KS
2003 INT alumni
The INT program provided me with in depth knowledge concerning a broad array of aspects applicable to today’s IT work environment. In addition to studying through the use of current textbooks and online curriculums, I was afforded the opportunity to configure devices identical to those the Corporation I now work for utilizes. I feel obtaining a Bachelor’s Degree from FHSU further benefited me, as I have been informed those with an Associates Degree often get pushed aside. Overall, I am wholly satisfied with the INT program, and feel the staff genuinely cares about furthering your potential and future successes.
- Brett Huser
Graduated May, 2005

The INT department curriculum doesn't just give a student a depth of knowledge in one area like Web development, internetworking, or media studies; it also gives the student a breadth of knowledge in leadership, public policy, and entrepreneurship. These are valuable skills which were integral to obtaining my current position with Consolidated Graphics.
