Mark Bannister is the Chair of the Department of Information Networking and Telecommunications at Fort Hays State University. He is also a Senior Policy Fellow of the Docking Institute of Public Affairs. Bannister teaches course work on legal issues and management of information technologies. Bannister supervises and participates in research and programming on telecommunications and community development. From 1993-1999, he headed the Telepower Conference -- a long running annual conference on telecommunications and rural development. Bannister has testified several times before the Kansas Legislature on telecommunications issues, has contributed to research documents cited by both Senators Pat Roberts and Tom Daschle on the U.S. Senate Floor, and has provided formal and informal consulting for the state telecommunications plans of Kansas, Nebraska, and Colorado. Bannister has published articles in such publications as the Federal Communications Law Journal, Economic Development Review, Economic Development Journal, Kansas Policy Review, and Kansas Business Review.
Bannister has consulted for organizations including the Kansas Governor's Office, Kansas Legislature, Kansas Supreme Court, Kansas Department of Commerce, Kansas Department of Health and Environment, Kansas Chief Information Architect, Kansas GIS Policy Board/Kansas Water Office, Midwest Energy, Kansas Justice Initiative, Northeast Kansas Regional Economic Development, St. Catherine's Hospital, Hays Medical Center, Kansas Health Institute, National Conference of State Legislatures.
In his career, he has previously served as Director of the Docking Institute of Public Affairs, Chief of Staff for the Kansas Senate President and Associate General Counsel to the Kansas Board of Regents.

Background: Larry Gould is the Provost/Chief Academic Officer for Fort Hays State University. Gould was the driver in the creation of the INT Degree and has been involved with the department's direction from its initiation. He enjoys interacting with students and supervising internships and apprenticeships.
As Provost, he provides leadership, ensures academic accountability, encourages innovation and entrepreneurship, facilitates the work of faculty, staff and students and serves as a public intellectual promoting the culture, spirit and value of the academy. The provost works closely with the president in developing University priorities and in administering program budgets and faculty personnel policies. As a member of the Regents' Council of Chief Academic Officers, he participates in a collegial fashion with other academic leaders in system-wide shared governance and coordination.

Background:
Mel Hanks comes to Fort Hays State University with nearly 4 decades of experience in radio, television, newspapers, and college teaching. He has worked in Florida, Missouri, Arkansas, and Arizona as a television investigative reporter, news director, bureau chief, assignment editor, news producer, assistant news director, and managing editor. He has taught at 4 institutions of higher learning in Missouri and Arkansas, including Arkansas State University and the University of Arkansas-Little Rock. He was won many prestigious awards in his media career, including the Emmy, the Silver Gavel Award from the American Bar Association, the Silver and Bronze Medallions for Investigative Reporting from the International Film and TV Festival of New York, and numerous Associated Press and United Press International awards. In 1993, he was named Journalist of the Year by the University of Arkansas. Mel has appeared on several national TV shows, including PBS' "Frontline," "Dateline NBC," "The Today Show," "A Current Affair" and "Rivera Live". He was also an in-studio guest on the "Geraldo!" show in 1989. Mel and his wife Debby have 3 grown sons.

Background: Jerry Huff is an Attorney and a Microsoft Certified System Engineer. He is currently employed by the Kansas Board of Regents. In the past, Jerry has held positions at Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas, Stormont-Vail Healthcare, and the Kansas Department of Commerce.
His areas of interest are: Computer Law, HIPAA, Privacy Issues, Computer Forensics, Data Encryption, Electronic Security and Surveillance, and white collar crime.
He has also completed the courses of Basic Data Recovery and Analysis (computer forensics), and Financial Investigations Practical Skills, from the National White Collar Crime Center located in Richmond, Virginia. Jerry also assists businesses and individuals with computer and technology problems.

Background:
Robert Pierce has been an adjunct instructor for the Department of Information Networking and Telecommunications at Fort Hays State University since the fall of 2003. He is also the Department Chair for Engineering Technology at Pensacola Junior College. Pierce teaches the foundation course for information systems security and has taught several courses at Pensacola Junior College as well as Kun Guk University in Seoul, Korea. Pierce works with the Florida State Department of Education on curriculum development and course numbering for computer science, networking and telecommunications and is the Communications Officer for the Pensacola Composite Squadron of the Civil Air Patrol. From 1993-1995, he negotiated an international agreement between the Republic of Korea and the United States government while assigned to that country. Pierce has worked with computers since 1974 and became interested in computer networks in the early 1990’s.
Robert Pierce served in the US Army from 1976 to 1996 and returned to Pensacola, Florida upon retirement. He has been active in the field of networking since his retirement and holds several certifications and is a Cisco Certified Academy Instructor.
Background: Fort Hays State University's Information Networking & Telecommunications Department is one of three Regional Cisco Academies in the state of Kansas. Mark Rohlf provides quality assurance to the local Cisco Academies that are supported under FHSU's regional. Additionally Mark is the primary contact person for new academies. Mark has several years experience in the hospital IT industry providing networking and server/desktop support to small hospitals in the Northwest Kansas area.
Mark is a graduate of Fort Hays State University. He completed a Bachelor of Arts in Communication, with an emphasis in Public Relations, in the spring of 1996. He then completed a Master of Science degree in Instructional Technology in the summer of 2000.

Stephen Schleicher has crossed the country several times over the last few years going from Kansas to Atlanta, Georgia, and Southern California. In his time traveling, he has worked as an editor, graphic designer, videographer, director, and producer on a variety of video productions ranging from small internal pieces, to large multimedia corporate events.
Currently, Stephen shares his knowledge with students at Fort Hays State University who are studying media and web development in the Information Networking and Telecommunications department.
When he is not shaping the minds of university students, Stephen continues to work on video and independent projects for State and local agencies and organizations as well as his own ongoing works.
Stephen is also a regular contributor to Digital Producer, Creative Mac, Digital Webcast, Digital Animators, and the DV Format websites, part of the Digital Media Online network of communities (http://www.digitalmedianet.com), where he writes about the latest technologies, and gives tips and tricks on everything from Adobe After Effects, to Apple's Final Cut Pro, LightWave 3D, to shooting and lighting video.
Stephen has a Masters Degree in Communication from Fort Hays State University. As a forward thinker, he wrote his Thesis on how Information Islands and e-commerce would play a major role in keeping smaller communities alive. This of course was when 28.8 dialup was king and people hadn't even invented the word e-commerce.
Stephen spends what little free time he has biking, reading, traveling around the country, and contemplating the future of digital video and its impact on our culture.

Kevin Shaffer graduated from the University of Colorado with a Master of Science in Telecommunications in 1998 and he is currently pursuing his doctoral degree in Infromation Systems. Prior to graduate school, Kevin lived in Osaka, Japan for six years.
Kevin's research interests include international message telephone service economics and the promotion of broadband internetworking services to assist rural development.

Melissa Hunsicker-Walburn serves the citizens of Kansas as Director for the Learning Quest® 529 Education Savings Program. Melissa is charged with overseeing the programs daily operations, which encompasses thousands of accounts with nearly a billion dollars in assets.
Prior to joining the Treasurer's office, Melissa worked for the Kansas Corporation Commission, the state's public utility regulatory agency, where she served as a Telecommunications Regulatory Analyst. She has also worked in the non-profit sector in the area of education law.
A lifelong Kansan, Melissa graduated from Fort Hays State University (FHSU) with a Bachelor of Arts in political science. After graduating from FHSU, Melissa went on to earn her Juris Doctorate from the Washburn University School of Law in Topeka, Kan. and is licensed to practice law in the state of Kansas and the United States District Court for the District of Kansas.

Woody Wu has been working in the computing, networking and telecommunication industries for 19 years. He has finished 30+ credit hours in a Doctoral of Management program, 40 credit hours in a Master of Computer Science program, and holds a MS degree in Telecommunications from Southern Methodist University and a MA degree in Journalism from University of North Texas .
Mr. Wu has worked for NEC and Ericsson as a permanent employee, for MCI WorldCom as a contractor, and for Santera (a start-up company) as an employee and stockholder.
During his career in networking and telecommunications, he has served different roles including CEO, manager/supervisor/leader, system engineer, standard engineer, patent engineer, designer, tester, quality assurance engineer, customer support engineer, and technical training instructor.
He has 5 telecommunications patents granted and currently hold the Cisco CCNA and CCAI certifications. Besides teaching in the industry for Ericsson and Santera, Mr. Wu has 7 years teaching experiences at universities for the management, networking, and telecommunications courses.
